How do I use Grit Prime - Sanded Acrylic Primer?
Grit Prime is designed to be used on a smooth surface or substrate to create a rough textured surface that allows for better adhesion when applying ceramic, porcelain or stone tiles. The primer is ready mixed and can be used straight out of the tub. Clean the area to be primed before applying an even coat using either a large brush or roller to the surface area. Leave to dry for at least 1 hour before attempting to tile onto the newly primed surface.
Can I use Grit Prime on artex ceilings or walls?
Whilst Grit Prime can be used on an artex surface we would highly recommend that the texture surface be removed or flattened in preperation for the Grit Prime application. This ensures that there are no uneven areas of the wall or floor after the primer has been applied.
Does Grit Prime - Sanded Acrylic Primer take longer to set in different temperatures?
Yes, dependant on the temperature of the room where the Grit Prime is being applied to. Varying degrees in temperature will have an effect on how long it takes the primer to set. e.g. In temperatures of around 20° C it can take between 3 to 4 hours for Grit Prime to dry completely.
How much Grit Prime do I need to cover my wall or floor area ?
The ratio of 8 - 10 Sq Metres per litre coverage can be used when working out how much Grit Prime is required to cover your wall or floor area.
