Do you wet the grout float?
Dip a sponge in clean water and squeeze it until it is damp, not wet. Too much water moisture will result in the grout not hardening and settling. Be sure to squeeze the sponge well enough before you can apply it to your grout.
How long should you leave grout before wiping?
Let the grout set for 15 to 30 minutes, and wipe up the excess grout with a grout float sponge. (If you think it's going to take you longer than 30 minutes to grout all of the tiles and be ready to move onto cleanup, you may have to work in smaller sections.)
Do you need a grout sponge?
Once it comes time to wash and wipe away the excess grout over the tile surface, you will need a sponge that won't mar the grout underneath. Otherwise, you risk undoing the work you just completed as you clean up.
